There is Some Progress Being Made

I have not been very busy in the Quilt Studio thru the month of December. I feel that family stuff is more important and so all my extra time has been for them.

I do have a little progress being made in the piecing department though and thought I would share some of the progress.

I have finally completed clue #2 for the Grand Illusion mystery with Bonnie Hunter.

I have started sewing the strips together for clue #3.

I have started to put together my stars blocks.

I sewed together many, many green 9-patches last winter for this Sisters Choice quilt from Bonnie Hunter. I will be using some of these blocks for a baby quilt I have planned.

And last but not least. I have started putting together the blue stars blocks for the 3 Quilts of Valor I have planned to complete this winter. I have 15 blocks done so far. I will be making 100 blocks.

Well, this is all for now. Keep on Scrappin!

Completions for 2014

I am very excited to track my progress this past year. I was disappointed last year when I couldn't really see all my completions for the year. So I made up a tab for completions for the year of 2014 and each time I posted a blog with a completion I labeled it.
This has made a big difference for me this year. I see that I have more completions than I had thought.
I will start with January and proceed forward. I wish I knew how to make a collage of the pictures but this will have to do.

First off in January.

This quilt was all plaid and stripes or re-purposed shirts. All of the 2 1/2 inch squares are from my pre-cut drawers.

This quilt is also from pre-cut squares. They are from my 3 1/2 inch drawer and is the last quilt made from these pre-cuts. There were a total of 3 quilts and I no longer have any 3 1/2 inch squares. I found that I just was not using these so I wanted to use up the ones I had cut up already. Yeah! Old scraps are gone.

These are two embroidery completions. I haven't done any more embroideries this year.

This quilt is my Smith Mountain Morning from Bonnie Hunter. I just love this quilt.

This is my completion for March. I call it Shadow Box.

This is a quilt for an old co-worker. It was completed in April.

.
This is another charity quilt where I used up a bunch of pre-sewed half square triangles and 2 1/2 inch squares all from stash by Bonnie Hunter's inspiration. This is an August completion.

My cute flock of chickens completed in September.

My Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt. Love it!

My hexie table runner that started out to be a queen size quilt. Oh well, I love it as it is.

This is my husband's memory quilt. I really like the way it turned out.

My final completion for the year of 2014. This has been a great year for both old and new projects. I think 2015 will be more of the same.

What is Going on Here?

I have a few things going on here in the Quilt Studio.

First up I have a charity quilt loaded on the HQ. This is the tumbler quilt I was working on during the deer camp in October. I had a hard time with piecing the backing but it is now ready to go. I have decided on the thread color and I will do a baptist fan on it.

This is my design wall. I have completed the 12 blocks for this Quilt of Valor. I have also cut out the yellow cornerstones and the unbleached muslin sashing so this quilt is ready to put together.

I am behind already with my Bonnie Hunter mystery clue two. I have cut out a bunch of the parts but I have not started sewing them together yet.Oh well, I will keep plodding along.

I have cut out most of the parts I need for the star Quilts of Valor. I should be able to make great progress on these blocks. I will probably sew up 100 and then finish designing each quilt so they look a little bit different. There will be 3 quilts when I get all done.

This is all for now. Stop by next week for an update and Keep on Scrappin!

Wow, This Year Has Flown By!

This year has certainly flown by and gotten away from me. I have been some what busy in the Quilt Studio but have not documented it here very much.
I have been working on piecing a backing together for the next charity quilt top I have finished but have struggled with using up the pieces. These pieces are from cut offs from other quilt backings and are long and narrow. I still need just a bit more on the sides and the length before I am finished. I need to come up with some way to use up these left over fabrics in a different way. I am too frustrated to use up this fabric in this way. I am also piecing together batting for this quilt. I just need to add a little bit to the length and it will be ready for the quilt.

I do have a completion though. I have completed the first clue for the Bonnie Hunter mystery. This is a good feeling. I hope to keep up this year a little better than I did last year.

Here was my good start to the HSTs.

Here I have completed the 100 broken dish units. I will be making the 80 HSTs as leader enders with the next units in the mystery.

This is all for now. Keep on Scrappin!
