We have had a wonderful Christmas and have spent allot of time with grandchildren.
I am not sure if I have mentioned it but we have 21 grandchildren. Five moved here from Wisconsin in August and then 3 moved to Texas in September. We have missed those three very much since they have left Utah.
We had an excursion yesterday on the UTA system by catching the Frontrunner and then the Trax to Salt Lake City from Utah valley. We tried to go to our favorite Texas BBQ, Joe Morley's, but they did not open until 5:00p.m. and we were there at 4:00p.m. So we caught the Trax again and went to down town SLC and ate at JB Big Boys. We left the American Fork station at 3:10p.m. and did not return until 9:00p.m. The lights at Temple Square were great but the crowds were over whelming.
I have a picture of Miss Daffodil complete and I have made a good start with Miss Dahlia.
Isn't she cute?
I am hoping that next week that I can be back in the swing of things. My pneumonia is pretty much done but the cough and the influenza seems to be going away too. So baring anything new in the health department I should be back in the groove.
Take care and I will maybe have some quilting news next week.

Wishful Thinking
Well, my week started off good and I thought I was on the mend. Guess it was just Wishful Thinking.
My daughter helped me draw lines on the squares for part 2 of the mystery quilt. I started sewing on them yesterday but there is no way I will be able to complete them this week and probably not next week either. I had high hopes for being able to do this mystery quilt, keep up, and link up with Bonnie at Quiltville. At least I learned how to link up once.
I have sewn 200 yellow squares to the uphill chevron and that is all. I will not be linking up to Quiltville this week and I don't think I will be able to do any more on the mystery quilt for the rest of the year.
I have finished Miss Canterbury Bell and I have made a good start on Miss Daffodil. I will probably get to do allot of embroidery in the next week or so since I am not able to get up the energy to do anything else.
I hope to have something next week. Take care.

I have started the work up on the Grandmother's Garden blocks to give my quote to my friend about what it will cost him for me to finish these quilts. There will be two quilts with 80 blocks per quilt. It took me 10 minutes to prep and sew around this one block. That is over 24 hours of sewing just for the flowers alone. I am not sure when I will be able to finish this quote, probably after the New Year.
I hope to have something next week. Take care.

Celtic Solstice Part 1
I am finally feeling a bit better from my pneumonia and have some energy to do some things. I am still coughing but I still feel better than I did last week. I have been working very hard in the quilt studio. It feels good to clean up in there and get a few things decided and done.
I cut the pieces for Celtic Solstice early this week.
I have sewed and sewed and finally completed this part. I carefully cut and sewed these but still I had to trim just a bit. I probably would have been fine not trimming but this way I know everything will fit properly.
I am linking up with Bonnie at Quiltville.
I have also prepared the small border for this quilt so as soon as I put it on the top I can add these for the pieced border.
I have loaded a charity quilt and started the quilting. I also have backing for another charity quilt ready so I can get these two quilts finished and send them out the door.
I have cut all the pieces for Part 2 of Celtic Solstice and will now draw the lines on the white and yellow squares. I plan to have these done by next week before Part 4 comes out.
I read Part 3 this morning. Wow, those are tiny half squares. I just need to concentrate on what I can do and not get discouraged by what is ahead of me. It is the journey not the end that I need to enjoy.
With so much down time the last two weeks I have spent some time embroidering my flowers. I have finished Miss Crocus and I am almost done with Miss Canterbury Bell.
So I will sign off for now and talk again next week.

While I was trimming for the Mystery quilt I trimmed my Smith Mountain Majesties quilt units that are the same block with blue and brown for the wings. I have been working on this quilt for a while now.

Life Took Over
I have felt very neglectful of my blog and quilting the last two weeks but life took over.
A week ago Sunday my father-in-law past away. It was a blessing for him because he had been very sick for so long. The funeral was the day after Thanksgiving. We have many people to be grateful for this year. He was a very good man and we will miss him.
My plan this week was to jump head long into Bonnie Hunter's mystery and I have made some progress. On Monday I pressed and cut my 3 1/2 inch strips for part one but was too exhausted to do more.
I also cut out batting for three quilt tops.
This one was done last spring and it is made from 2 1/2 inch squares that are over flowing in my bins. I put lots of plaids, strips, and checks into these. This is a lap sized quilt top. I just need to get a backing ready for it now.
This is the last of the 3 1/2 inch squares charity quilts that I put together early this summer. It needs about 8 inches added to the backing and then it is ready for quilting.
I went to the doctor on Wednesday and found out I have pneumonia. I thought I had bronchitis but apparently it is a little more than that.
So my progress is not very fast but I will keep plugging along. I was not home when Bonnie posted the first unit for the mystery but I will be home for part two which she posted at 5:00am this morning. She say the pdf has a problem so I can't print it out yet but it looks like a ton of chevrons need to be made. I am hoping next week that I will feel better and be able to get some things done in my quilt studio. I miss working in there so much.
Thanks for stopping by. I will talk again next week.

This is the top I put together in Reno, NV while my husband was at a conference. It needs a backing and it is ready to quilt. I asked Anita from "Na Na's Place on the web" for suggestions on how to quilt this and she drew me raindrops. I still need to practice these before attempting to quilt them but it was a great idea. Thanks Anita.
